Course Description
- Par 70
- 18 Holes
- 6,100 Yards
Southgate Golf Club is known for its friendly atmosphere and views of the St. George area. Though Southgate offers a relatively short layout at 6,100 yards and par 70, many of the holes require pinpoint accuracy. On the front nine, golfers will encounter eight holes that require careful shots around or over water hazards. Five of the holes on the front nine have, in fact, been redesigned to make the most of the winding Santa Clara River. Amongst the redesigned holes is the par-four seventh, a challenging hole with water along the right side of the fairway and an undulating putting surface set against a small lake. As challenges are in play from tee to green on this hole, the seventh is known to many golfers as Southgate's signature hole.
While the front nine at Southgate Golf Club is primarily flat and known for extensive water hazards, the back nine navigates Tonaquint Mountain and provides views of the entire St. George area. Playing slightly longer than the front nine with greater changes in elevation, the back nine at Southgate is great place to pull out the driver and let it rip. Though the back nine isn't without plenty of obstacles, many of the holes have been known to reward risk-taking players. The back nine isn't as easily walkable as the pleasant front nine, but when playing a full round, the nine holes resting on Tonaquint Mountain offer the perfect counterpart to the tight front nine.
Southgate Golf Club is also a great place to learn the game of golf as the course features a full driving range with an education facility. Beginners can also rent clubs or find the right equipment at the pro shop before heading out on the course. As experienced golfers will also find plenty to enjoy amongst Southgate's 18 holes, the course is known as one of St. George's best options for players of all ages and skill levels. Southgate Golf Club also features an on-site snack bar.
