So the critical path runs: demolition, rough-in, inspection, drywall and paint, flooring or its underlayment, cabinets, template, fabrication, install, then final plumbing and electrical connection. A kitchen is without a working sink for the window between cabinet install and countertop install, which is not a scheduling failure but a structural feature of the sequence. The other lesson is that long-lead selections - custom cabinets, a specific slab, an imported tile - need deciding at the beginning, because a decision deferred by a week can move the finish date by a month.
