Rides depart from Zion Lodge, the only lodging inside the canyon, and run from March through October. Context
Park Service concessions are long-term contracts, competitively awarded, and they are the reason the businesses operating inside national parks tend to be decades old. Zion Lodge itself descends from the 1920s, when the Utah Parks Company built lodges across southern Utah to serve rail-and-motor-coach tourists — the original building burned in 1966 and was rebuilt quickly on the same site.
