Disc Golf in St. George

Disc golf is having a moment in St. George, and it is a perfect fit: cheap, outdoors, and set in some genuinely scenic desert terrain. Whether you are a first-timer or you travel with a full bag of discs, here is where to play.

Beaverwood

Beaverwood is the flagship, an 18-hole course carved into red-rock desert with rock formations, water, tight fairways, and real elevation change. The main layout is one of the toughest in the region, so if you are new, play the Quick 9 loop, which skips the hardest holes and moves faster. Either way, the scenery is the draw.

Park courses

For a mellower, free round, the city park courses are the move. Bloomington Hills North Park and Mathis Park both have courses that are friendly to beginners and easy to fit into an afternoon, and the university has a course as well. These are the low-pressure places to learn.

Most courses are free, and you only need a couple of discs to begin, which is what makes disc golf such an easy thing to try. Play early or late in summer to beat the heat, bring water, and watch where your errant throws land, because the desert rough really is rough.
