Jenny's Canyon: Snow Canyon's Easy Slot Canyon

Jenny's Canyon is the most accessible slot canyon in the St. George area — a short, easy hike to a narrow sandstone slot inside Snow Canyon State Park, minutes from town in Ivins.

The basics

  • Distance: about a half-mile round trip, easy — perfect for families and first-timers
  • The payoff: a short but genuine slot canyon you can walk into, with tall, curving sandstone walls
  • In spring, wildflowers often line the sandy approach

Important: seasonal closure

  • Jenny's Canyon closes each spring (roughly mid-March through the end of May) to protect nesting raptors such as peregrine falcons
  • Exact dates vary year to year — check the Utah State Parks site or the park before you go

Tips

  • Combine it with the Petrified Dunes right nearby
  • Go early to beat the heat; there's little shade
  • Snow Canyon charges a day-use entrance fee (per vehicle)

A quick, rewarding taste of slot-canyon scenery without the drive to Zion.
