Lake Powell & Page: Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon
About 2.5 to 3 hours east of St. George, the town of Page, Arizona is the gateway to some of the Southwest's most iconic sights — clustered close enough to see in a day (though an overnight is easier).
The big three
- Horseshoe Bend: a short walk to the famous sweeping curve of the Colorado River
- Antelope Canyon: the glowing slot canyon on Navajo land — guided tour only, and you must book ahead
- Lake Powell: boating, beaches, and overlooks at Wahweap and Antelope Point marinas, plus Glen Canyon Dam
Know before you go
- Page is on Arizona time — note Arizona doesn't observe daylight saving, so the offset from Utah changes by season
- Antelope Canyon requires a Navajo-authorized tour and sells out — reserve well in advance
- Summer is hot; carry water everywhere
Tips: it's a long day round-trip — leave at dawn, or make it an overnight and add Antelope Canyon comfortably. Fuel and food are easy to find in Page.
