The falls
Toquerville Falls is a set of cascades on La Verkin Creek, running year-round in open desert between St. George and Zion. There is a swimming hole below the drops, which is why it is busy on summer weekends despite the access.
The road is the hard part
The falls sit on Bureau of Land Management land at the end of roughly eight miles of dirt road, and the road is the reason most people turn around. The first two miles are rough but manageable in a stock high-clearance SUV. The last stretch adds creek crossings, deep ruts and washboard. Low-clearance cars and rental sedans should not attempt it.
Never drive it wet. Give the road a day or two after rain, and remember that the creek crossings rise fast in a storm.
Getting there
From St. George take I-15 north to exit 27 for Toquerville and State Route 17, then follow Spring Drive northeast out of Toquerville until it becomes Toquerville Falls Road and the pavement ends.
Practical
There is no fee, no ranger and no water. Primitive camping is allowed nearby. Pack out everything, including what other people left.
