Where to Stay Near Zion: Springdale, Hurricane, or St. George
There's no single right base for a Zion trip — it depends on whether you want to walk to the entrance or trade a short drive for lower prices.
Springdale (at the gate)
- Right outside the pedestrian entrance, with a free town shuttle to the park
- Walk to dinner after hiking; highest prices and books up early
Hurricane / La Verkin (~30–40 min)
- Hotels, vacation rentals, and chains at lower rates, plus quick access to Sand Hollow and Quail Creek
- A good middle ground between price and drive time
St. George (~1 hour)
- The most lodging, dining, and things to do; make Zion a day trip and enjoy a full-service base
- Best for travelers combining Zion with golf, Snow Canyon, and other parks
Camping
- The park's Watchman and South campgrounds are steps from the entrance (Watchman takes reservations) and fill fast
Tips: book Springdale and in-park campgrounds months ahead in spring–fall; if you're visiting several parks, a St. George or Hurricane base is often cheaper and more central.
