Context

There are two basic ways to move a disabled vehicle. A wheel-lift truck raises one axle and tows the vehicle on the other two, which is quick, cheap in road space, and perfectly adequate for many older cars. A flatbed loads the entire vehicle onto the deck so nothing rotates at all. All-wheel-drive vehicles generally need the flatbed, because dragging a driven axle turns the driveline against a stationary transmission and can destroy a transfer case or center differential. So do vehicles with low front bodywork, air suspension, or a wheel seized by a failed bearing or brake. So do most electric vehicles, where turning a driven axle spins the motor and feeds current back into the system. None of that is obvious to a dispatcher who has been told only that a car will not start, which is why saying what the vehicle is, and what is wrong with it, is the difference between a tow and a second repair.
