RV and equipment glass is a different trade from car glass in almost every respect. A passenger car windshield is a molded part with a catalog number and a defined installation procedure. A motorhome windshield is frequently a two-piece unit set into a rubber gasket rather than bonded in place, an older coach may need glass cut to a pattern taken from the opening itself, and heavy equipment cabs commonly run flat glass in frames that a shop fabricates rather than orders. Scale changes the job too, because a forty-foot coach does not fit into a bay and much of the work has to happen wherever the vehicle is parked. There is one maintenance point worth passing on to anyone who keeps a motorhome or a trailer standing in southern Utah sun: it is the gasket rubber that perishes, not the glass, and a leak around a coach window almost always starts as ultraviolet damage to the seal.
