Gated Communities of Greater St. George

A guide to the gated and guard-gated communities of the St. George area — from Stone Cliff's staffed entrance to Entrada's private golf gates — and what sets each one apart.

Gated living is relatively rare in the St. George area, where most neighborhoods are open and most golf courses are municipal. The handful of communities that are gated tend to sit at the top of the market. Here are the ones worth knowing, and how their gates actually work.

Stone Cliff — a staffed, 24/7 gate

Stone Cliff is one of the very few communities in southern Utah with a manned security gate rather than a keypad — staffed around the clock. Perched on a bluff southeast of downtown, it pairs that security with panoramic views, custom estate homes (generally from roughly $1.2 million into the millions), and a resort-style amenity center. If a genuinely guarded entrance is the priority, this is the benchmark.

Entrada at Snow Canyon — eight gates and a private club

Entrada at Snow Canyon, on the edge of Snow Canyon State Park, is guard-gated with eight fob-controlled entries. It wraps a private, members-only country club and a course originally designed by Johnny Miller and reimagined by David McLay Kidd. Every homeowner holds at least an associate club membership, so the gate comes with a full amenity package.

The Ledges — a gated luxury section

The Ledges of St. George is split in two: a publicly accessible eastern half around its public golf course, and a privately gated western section overlooking Snow Canyon. Several of its luxury villages — Morning Sun, Canyon Rim, the Estates at Valderra — are gated within the larger master plan.

SunRiver's gated pocket

Most of SunRiver St. George, the area's largest 55+ community, is not gated — but it contains a gated subsection called Reflections, its higher-end enclave, where homes reach into the seven figures.
