Zion With Kids: Easy Hikes and Family Tips
Zion is a fantastic park for families — dramatic scenery with plenty of short, safe hikes and a shuttle kids love to ride. It's about an hour from St. George.
Best easy hikes for families
- Riverside Walk: paved, 2 miles round trip to the start of the Narrows
- Pa'rus Trail: flat, paved, stroller- and bike-friendly (pets allowed)
- Lower Emerald Pool: an easy loop to a waterfall you walk behind
- Canyon Overlook: a short hike to a huge view (watch the drop-offs)
Make it fun
- Pick up a Junior Ranger booklet at the Visitor Center — kids earn a badge
- Let them wade at the mouth of the Narrows on a warm day
- Ride the shuttle and count the named peaks
Tips
- Bring lots of water, snacks, sun hats, and good shoes
- Skip the exposed, chain-assisted climbs (Angels Landing) with young kids
- Go early to beat heat and crowds
With a little planning, Zion is an easy win with children.
