Kayenta Art Village

An arts village, not a gallery row

Kayenta Art Village sits in the red rock west of St. George, inside the Kayenta community at Ivins. It gathers art and photography galleries, working studios and a pottery studio around a walkable centre, with the Kayenta Desert Arboretum, the Center for the Arts at Kayenta and Xetava Gardens Cafe on the same site.

The setting is the point. The village was built to the same desert-modern standards as the community around it, so the architecture, the planting and the landscape read as one piece.

What to do

Galleries are the main draw, and most are independent working spaces rather than commercial showrooms — it is normal to meet the artist. The desert arboretum is free to walk, the cafe is a destination in its own right, and the Center for the Arts programmes theatre, music and film through the year.

When to come

Mornings and evenings are far more comfortable than afternoons from May to September. The village runs a calendar of festivals and events, and the surrounding community holds more than fifty a year.

Nearby

Snow Canyon State Park is a few minutes north, and Tuacahn's amphitheatre is on the other side of the ridge.
