Ence Bros Realty, Inc

Ence Bros Realty is the brokerage arm of one of St. George's oldest homebuilding families, based at 619 South Bluff Street with Jon Ence as principal broker. Ence Homes was founded in 1957 by brothers Jay and Quentin Ence and their cousin Paul, sold its first house for $17,000, and has since built more than 10,000 homes across Southern Utah and Mesquite, Nevada. The business passed to Quentin's sons in 1996 and is now run by Troy and Jon Ence with nephew Kolby, which makes the realty side unusual locally: a sales operation attached to nearly seventy years of building in the same county.

A builder’s sales arm

This is the sales side of a homebuilding operation, so its inventory is largely the company's own construction rather than general resale. That is an advantage on a new build — the people selling it know how it was put together and what can still be changed — and a limit if you want an unbiased comparison across builders, which is exactly what independent representation is for.

Where the office sits

The office is on Bluff Street, the old highway through town and still one of its busiest north–south routes, running beneath the sandstone bluff it is named for. Of the communities covered on this site, Southgate, Sunbrook and Tonaquint lie nearest.

A large share of what sells in Washington County was built in the last twenty years, and a good deal of it sells straight from a builder's model home.
