The marquee courses
- Sand Hollow Resort is the headliner — ranked among the top public courses in Utah, with holes 12 through 15 running along massive red-rock ridges that are some of the most photographed in American golf.
- Black Desert Resort in Ivins is the newcomer everyone's talking about: a Tom Weiskopf design that opened in 2023 and hosted the PGA Tour's Black Desert Championship, the first PGA Tour event in Utah in over sixty years. It's the high-end, resort-golf experience.
- Entrada at Snow Canyon is a Johnny Miller design, refreshed by architect David McLay Kidd to acclaim — but it's semi-private: access generally requires a two-night minimum stay in the on-property lodging.
- Coral Canyon and The Ledges round out the well-known destination courses, with Coral Canyon in particular offering wide fairways and friendlier pricing.
The value courses
You don't need a resort budget to play here. St. George runs several well-kept municipal courses — among them Sunbrook, Southgate, St. George Golf Club, and the short, scenic Dixie Red Hills — that offer genuinely good desert golf at city-course prices. They're where a lot of the year-round locals play.
When to play
Golf is a year-round sport here, but the shoulder seasons are the sweet spot. Fall and spring bring near-perfect temperatures and the busiest tee sheets — book ahead. Winter is mild and a big draw for snowbirds, with cool, clear days. Summer is hot: play early morning or late afternoon, drink plenty of water, and you'll have the course to yourself midday.
