The town is the county's eastern gateway, where State Route 9 turns off toward La Verkin, Springdale and Zion National Park, and it has absorbed much of Washington County's recent growth as buyers priced out of St. George look east. A one-broker practice

A single-broker firm is the most common shape in Washington County's directory, and it means what it says: the person you meet is the person who holds the license, writes the offer and answers the phone at nine on a Sunday. The upside is continuity. The limit is capacity — one person can only be at one inspection at a time, and holidays are real.

Where the office sits

Hurricane sits on the bench above the Virgin River in the eastern half of the county, with Sand Hollow and Quail Creek on its doorstep and the highway to Zion running through town. Of the communities covered on this site, Hurricane, Sky Mountain and Copper Rock lie nearest.

Age-restricted communities

Several of the county's largest communities are age-restricted, which is a legal status rather than a marketing label: federal housing rules let a community require that at least one occupant of most homes be 55 or over, and the HOA enforces it. That affects who can inherit, who can move in with you and who you can eventually sell to.
