Green Valley is an established, resort-flavored area on the west side of St. George — not a single master-planned community but a collection of subdivisions built out in phases beginning in the late 1970s, each with its own character. Set west of South Dixie Drive and accessed via Canyon View Drive, it sits on the edge of protected BLM red-rock land near the Santa Clara River, separated from downtown by volcanic ridges. It's an all-ages area whose residents range from young professionals to snowbirds, with a housing mix that leans toward condos and townhomes alongside single-family and view homes.

Recreation & the Green Valley Spa

Green Valley's calling card is its red-rock trail access. The Bear Claw Poppy Trail — the first established mountain-biking trail in St. George — begins here, along with the Green Valley Gap network, running through habitat protected for the endangered dwarf bear-claw poppy. The area is also home to the historic Green Valley Spa & Resort, one of St. George's first destination wellness resorts (opened in the mid-1980s), an early promoter of red-rock hiking tourism.

Green Valley itself has no golf course, but the city-owned Southgate and Sunbrook public courses sit nearby along the Santa Clara River.
